American Standard Version
And the multitude rebuked them, that they should hold their peace: but they cried out the more, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David.

The crowds reproved them and told them to keep still; but they cried out all the more, Lord, have pity {and} mercy on us, [You] Son of David!

Contemporary English Version
The crowd told them to be quiet, but they shouted even louder, "Lord and Son of David, have pity on us!"

But the crowd rebuked them, that they might be silent. But they cried out the more, saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David.
