Now Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever; and straightway they tell him of her:

Now Simon's mother-in-law had for some time been lying sick with a fever, and at once they told Him about her.

When they got there, Jesus was told that Simon's mother-in-law was sick in bed with fever.
