49 For He who is mighty ^ahas done great things for me,
And ^bholy is His name.

50 And ^aHis mercy is on those who fear Him
From generation to generation.

51 ^aHe has shown strength with His arm;
^bHe has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

52 ^aHe has put down the mighty from their thrones,
And exalted the lowly.

53 He has ^afilled the hungry with good things,
And the rich He has sent away empty.

He hath wrought strength with his arm - That is, he hath shown the exceeding greatness of his power. She speaks prophetically of those things as already done, which God was about to do by the Messiah. He hath scattered the proud - Visible and invisible.
