Robertson's Word Pictures (NT)
Must be put (blhteon). This verbal adjective in -teov rather than -tov appears here alone in the N.T. though it is common enough in Attic Greek. It is a survival of the literary style. This is the impersonal use and is transitive in sense here and governs the accusative "new wine" (oinon neon), though the agent is not expressed (Robertson, Grammar, p. 1097).
Other Robertson's Word Pictures (NT) entries containing Luke 5:38:
Matthew 13:3
Mark 2:22
Luke 22:20

2 Corinthians 3:6
