And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much.

And if you lend money at interest to those from whom you hope to receive, what quality of credit {and} thanks is that to you? Even notorious sinners lend money at interest to sinners, so as to recover as much again.

If you lend money only to someone you think will pay you back, will God be pleased with you for that? Even sinners lend to sinners because they think they will get it all back.
