Luke 12:18
Compare all
16 Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully.
17 And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’
18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, a“Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; beat, drink, and be merry.” ’
20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night ayour soul will be required of you; bthen whose will those things be which you have provided?’

Luke 12:18

I will pull down (kaqelw). Future active of kaqairew, an old verb, the usual future being kaqairhsw. This second form from the second aorist kaqeilon (from obsolete elw) like afelei in Revelation 22:19.

My barns (mou tav apoqhkav). From apotiqhmi, to lay by, to treasure. So a granary or storehouse, an old word, six times in the N.T. (Matthew 3:12; Matthew 6:26; Matthew 13:30; Luke 3:17; Luke 12:18, Luke 12:24).

All my corn (panta ton siton). Better grain (wheat, barley), not maize or Indian corn.

My goods (ta agaqa mou). Like the English, my good things. So the English speak of goods (freight) train.
