Robertson's Word Pictures (NT)
Being angry (orgisqeiv). First aorist (ingressive) passive, becoming angry.
Quickly (taxewv). The dinner is ready and no time is to be lost. The invitation goes still to those in the city.
Streets and lanes (tav plateiav kai rumav). Broadways and runways (broad streets and narrow lanes).
Maimed (anapeirouv). So Westcott and Hort for the old word anaphrouv, due to itacism (ei=h in pronunciation). The word is compounded of ana and phrov, lame all the way up.
Other Robertson's Word Pictures (NT) entries containing Luke 14:21:
Matthew 22:1
Luke 14:16
Acts 9:11
