26 ^aOught not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His ^bglory?”

27 And beginning at ^aMoses and ^ball the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

The Disciples’ Eyes Opened

28 Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and ^aHe indicated that He would have gone farther.

29 But ^athey constrained Him, saying, ^b“Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them.

30 Now it came to pass, as ^aHe sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.

31 Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.

What Does Luke 24:28 Mean?

Luke 24:28-30

The scripture does not indicate that God in any way forcefully closed their eyes. Yet, something occurred—maybe it was the way that He did a particular act, something with which they were familiar, say, an idiosyncrasy in the way He broke bread. Nevertheless, they were eating, and He took a loaf of bread and broke it in such a way that the lights went on in their minds! They recognized who they were talking to.
