15 For aI have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

17 aIf you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

Jesus Identifies His Betrayer

18 “I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the aScripture may be fulfilled, b‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’
19 aNow I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He.

John 13:17

John 13:17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. Know what things? Of course they knew that Christ had washed their feet. But did they know what he meant? The meaning is clearly, "If ye understand the meaning of my act, happy are ye if ye exemplify the same spirit in your lives".
