John 16:12

10 ^aof righteousness, ^bbecause I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

11 ^aof judgment, because ^bthe ruler of this world is judged.

12 “I still have many things to say to you, ^abut you cannot bear them now.

13 However, when He, ^athe Spirit of truth, has come, ^bHe will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

14 ^aHe will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

15 ^aAll things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He¹ will take of Mine and declare it to you.

But ye cannot bear them now (all ou dunasqe bastazein arti). The literal sense of bastazw, to bear, occurs in John 12:6. For the figurative as here see Acts 15:10. The untaught cannot get the full benefit of teaching (I Corinthians 3:1; Hebrews 5:11-14). The progressive nature of revelation is a necessity.
