Robertson's Word Pictures (NT)
Went out (echlqen ecw). Note both ec and ecw (went out outside), since the Sanhedrin would not come into Pilate's palace. Apparently on a gallery over the pavement in front of the palace (John 19:13).
Accusation (kathgorian). Old word for formal charge, in N.T. only here, I Timothy 5:19; Titus 1:6.
Against this man (tou anqrwpou toutou). Objective genitive after kathgorian. A proper legal inquiry.
Other Robertson's Word Pictures (NT) entries containing John 18:29:
Matthew 27:11
Mark 15:2
John 18:28
1 Timothy 5:19
