When day was now breaking (prwav hdh ginomenhv). Genitive absolute and note present middle participle (dawn coming on and still dark). In Matthew 27:1 the aorist participle (genomenhv) means that dawn had come. For "beach" (aigialon) see Matthew 13:2.
