Were the more added (mallon prosetiqento). Rather (mallon) instead of decrease as one might expect. Imperfect passive indicative of prostiqhmi common mi verb, kept on being added.
Both of men and women (andrwn te kai gunaikwn). The distinction between andrev and gunaikev and to be considered in connection with andrev in Acts 4:4 which see.
