Desired to find a tabernacle - This was in David' s heart, and it met with the Divine approbation: see II Samuel 7:2, etc., and see the purpose, Psalms 132:2-5; but, as David had been a man of war, and had shed much blood, God would not permit him to build the temple; but he laid the plan and made provision for it, and Solomon executed the design.
