Acts 20:26
Compare all
24 But anone of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, bso that I may finish my race with joy, cand the ministry dwhich I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
25 “And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more.
26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am ainnocent of the blood of all men.
27 For I have not shunned to declare to you athe whole counsel of God.
28 aTherefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit bhas made you overseers, to shepherd the church1 of God cwhich He purchased dwith His own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departure asavage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also afrom among yourselves men will rise up, speaking1 perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
31 Therefore watch, and remember that afor three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.

Acts 20:26

I testify (marturomai). Elsewhere in the N.T. only in Paul's Epistles (Galatians 5:3; Ephesians 4:17; I Thessalonians 2:12). It means "I call to witness" while marturew means "I bear witness."

This day (en th shmeron hmerai). The today day, the last day with you, our parting day.

I am pure from the blood of all men (kaqarov eimi apo tou aimatov pantwn). Paul was sensitive on this point as in Corinth (Acts 18:6). It is much for any preacher to claim and it ought to be true of all. The papyri also give this use of apo with the ablative rather than the mere ablative after kaqarov.
