Romans 5:7
Compare all
5 aNow hope does not disappoint, bbecause the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Christ in Our Place

6 For when we were still without strength,1 in due time aChrist died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
8 But aGod demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, having now been justified aby His blood, we shall be saved bfrom wrath through Him.
10 For aif when we were enemies bwe were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved cby His life.
11 And not only that, but we also arejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Death in Adam, Life in Christ

12 Therefore, just as athrough one man sin entered the world, and bdeath through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—
13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but asin is not imputed when there is no law.

Romans 5:6-11

So Paul says here that despite our being moral cesspools and without strength, and terrible creatures full of sin, the one who became Jesus Christ decided to give it all for us so that we can be reconciled to God by paying the price for our sins. And He did this, as we will see, silently, as a sheep goes to the slaughter. He did not contend or anything like that. He did not cry out. He did not do those things to get sympathy. He just did His job. And did it well, did it perfectly.
