Romans 6:23

21 ^aWhat fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For ^bthe end of those things is death.

22 But now ^ahaving been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit¹ to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

23 For ^athe wages of sin is death, but ^bthe gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Death - Temporal, spiritual, and eternal. Is the due wages of sin; but eternal life is the gift of God - The difference is remarkable. Evil works merit the reward they receive: good works do not. The former demand wages: the latter accept a free gift.
