<< Romans 11:27   Romans 11:29 >>

American Standard Version
As touching the gospel, they are enemies for your sake: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sake.

Amplified® Bible
From the point of view of the Gospel (good news), they [the Jews, at present] are enemies [of God], which is for your advantage {and} benefit. But from the point of view of God's choice (of election, of divine selection), they are still the beloved (dear to Him) for the sake of their forefathers.

Contemporary English Version
The people of Israel are treated as God's enemies, so that the good news can come to you Gentiles. But they are still the chosen ones, and God loves them because of their famous ancestors.

Darby English Version
As regards the glad tidings, [they are] enemies on your account; but as regards election, beloved on account of the fathers.

Good News Bible
Because they reject the Good News, the Jews are God's enemies for the sake of you Gentiles. But because of God's choice, they are his friends because of their ancestors.

International Standard Version
As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake, but as far as election is concerned, they are loved because of their ancestors.

King James Version
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

New American Standard Bible
From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of {God's} choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers;

New International Version
As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs,

New King James Version
Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers.

N.A.S.B. in E-Prime
From the standpoint of the gospel they have become enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God's choice He loves them for the sake of the fathers;

Young's Literal Translation
As regards, indeed, the good tidings, `they are' enemies on your account; and as regards the choice -- beloved on account of the fathers;
