Romans 15:4
Excerpted from: It's Enough! Now, Lord, Take My Life!Let us turn over to Romans 15, verse 4. The more we read His written Word, the more we adopt the mind of God. It is God speaking to us. And this is why daily Bible study is essential. We need to make the Bible the foundation of our behavior and the basis for sound, uplifting thoughts that dispel discouragement.
I want to read that again just to emphasize it: for whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. So if God is leading us, we will be moved to seek Him. The more effectively we can respond immediately to the influence of God's Spirit, the more quickly our minds will adopt God's thoughts, replacing thoughts of discouragement and depression.
Romans 15:4-6
Excerpted from: Caleb: Wholeheartedly Following God ExemplifiedThis afternoon, I want to start in Romans chapter 15, verses 4 through 6. In these verses, Paul is reminding us how important it is to go back into the Scriptures and review the lives of men recorded to help us today as we strive to live our lives in a godly manner.
Paul is telling us here that you can go back into the Old Testament, and there are rich sources of lessons to be learned. And of course for us today, the New Testament as well. These lessons are put in here for us to learn and to grow that we may have a closer relationship with God. They help us to know how God thinks, where His heart is, what His character is. And through the Scriptures, it gives us hope.
