I Corinthians 6:2-5
Excerpted from: The Eternal Privileges of the BridePlease turn with me to I Corinthians 6, verse 2. Because the bride of Christ is victorious, she will sit with Him on His throne, and that is the dignity, that is the privilege we have. The apostle Paul seems to scratch his head at the church in Corinth because they do not seem to get it. They do not seem to be able to grasp this greatness and this glory.
Although Paul's rebuke was initially directed at the Corinthians, it was inspired for the edification of every member of God's church. What is the matter with you? he asked. Why are you arguing among yourselves the issue? Paul wonders if they realize that every one of us as a Christian is in such a relationship to Christ that we are going to judge the world and that we are going to judge angels. This is part of the dignity that belongs to us.
I Corinthians 6:1-7
Excerpted from: Submitting (Part 2)Paul shows another step in what our attitude has to be between us and our brethren. This is a part of submitting to one another
The Christian's instructions are very clear. In a case involving brothers you had better be prepared to "lose," as an act of faith, out of respect for Christ. Christ is the Head of this church. By faith you know that He is going to judge the situation. Does Christ have enough wisdom to do that? Does Christ have enough power to carry out His judgments? Do we have enough faith to allow Him to do it?
I Corinthians 6:3-4
Excerpted from: Government (Part Seven)It is a question. He is calling them into account. They were doing the wrong thing. They were calling those to judge who were least able to do so. Now, what kind of justice, what kind of fairness, what kind of equity can there be in that kind of situation?
