1 Corinthians 10:3

Old Testament Examples

1 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under ^athe cloud, all passed through ^bthe sea,

2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,

3 all ate the same ^aspiritual food,

4 and all drank the same ^aspiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies ^awere scattered in the wilderness.

6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as ^athey also lusted.

Spiritual meat - The manna which is here called spiritual.

1.Because it was provided supernaturally; and,

2.Because it was a type of Christ Jesus, who speaking of it, John 6:31, etc., tells us that it was a type of that true bread which came down from heaven, which gives life to the world, John 6:33, and that himself was the bread of life, John 6:48.
