1 Corinthians 10:13
Compare all
11 Now1 all these things happened to them as examples, and athey were written for our admonition, bupon whom the ends of the ages have come.
12 Therefore alet him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but aGod is faithful, bwho will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to1 bear it.

Flee from Idolatry

14 Therefore, my beloved, aflee from idolatry.
15 I speak as to awise men; judge for yourselves what I say.
16 aThe cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the1 communion of the blood of Christ? bThe bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

1 Corinthians 10:13

Hath taken (eilhfen). Perfect active indicative of lambanw.

But such as man can bear (ei mh anqrwpinov). Except a human one. Old adjective meaning falling to the lot of man.

Above that ye are able (uper o dunasqe). Ellipsis, but plain. There is comfort in that God is faithful, trustworthy (pistov).

The way of escape (thn ekbasin). "The way out" is always there right along with (sun) the temptation. This old word only here in N.T. and Hebrews 13:7 about death. It is cowardly to yield to temptation and distrustful of God.
