He had made a beginning before (proenhrcato). First aorist active indicative of the double compound verb pro-en-arxomai, still found only here and verse II Corinthians 8:10, to make a start before others.
Complete (epitelesei) First aorist (effective) active subjunctive of epitelew, to finish, with perfective use of epi in composition.
