9 aFor this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask bthat you may be filled with cthe knowledge of His will din all wisdom and spiritual understanding;  
10 athat you may walk worthy of the Lord, bfully pleasing Him, cbeing fruitful in every good work and increasing in the dknowledge of God;  
11 astrengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, bfor all patience and longsuffering cwith joy;  
12 agiving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of bthe inheritance of the saints in the light.  
13 He has delivered us from athe power of darkness band conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,  
14 ain whom we have redemption1 through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.  
15 He is athe image of the invisible God, bthe firstborn over all creation.  
16 For aby Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or bdominions or principalities or2 powers. All things were created cthrough Him and for Him.

Colossians 1:11

Strengthened (dunamoumenoi). Present passive participle of late verb dunamow (from dunamiv), to empower, "empowered with all power." In LXX and papyri and modern Greek. In N.T. only here and Hebrews 11:34 and MSS. in Ephesians 6:10 (W H in margin).

According to the might of his glory (kata to kratov thv dochv autou). Kratov is old word for perfect strength (cf. kratew, kratilov). In N.T. it is applied only to God. Here his might is accompanied by glory (Shekinah).

Unto all patience and longsuffering (eiv pasan upomonhn kai makroqumian). See both together also in James 5:10 f.; II Corinthians 6:4, II Corinthians 6:6; II Timothy 3:10. upomonh is remaining under (upomenw) difficulties without succumbing, while makroqumia is the long endurance that does not retaliate (Trench).
