14 Now we¹ exhort you, brethren, ^awarn those who are unruly, ^bcomfort the fainthearted, ^cuphold the weak, ^dbe patient with all.

15 ^aSee that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always ^bpursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

16 ^aRejoice always,

17 ^apray without ceasing,

18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

19 ^aDo not quench the Spirit.

20 ^aDo not despise prophecies.

21 ^aTest all things; ^bhold fast what is good.

Rejoice evermore - Be always happy; the religion of Christ was intended to remove misery. He that has God for his portion may constantly exult. Four MSS. of good note add ͅ ͅ , in the Lord: Rejoice in the Lord evermore.
