I Thessalonians 5:16-18
This is one of the things it is God's will that you do: rejoice, pray, give thanks. You could say praise, pray, and give thanks. We need to be in communication with Him frequently, every day, to strengthen that relationship. This is one of the first, well, after chapter 5 in the Sermon on the Mount, but He tackles service, prayer, and fasting as things that we need to do, as His called people, as we go through life. In Matthew 9:15, after the Jews say, why are not Your disciples fasting, He says that when the bridegroom is taken away, His disciples will fast. So we will add that one in this too, that we need to pray and fast, because why will the disciples pray when the bridegroom is taken away? You are obviously praying that He will come back.
