Robertson's Word Pictures (NT)
It is sanctified (agiazetai). Present passive indicative of agiazw, here "rendered holy" rather than "declared holy." Cf. verse I Timothy 4:4.
Through the word of God and prayers (dia logou qeou kai enteucewv). See I Timothy 2:1 for enteuciv. Paul seems to refer to Genesis 1. It is almost a hendiadys "by the use of Scripture in prayer."
