American Standard Version
but refuse profane and old wives' fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:

Amplified® Bible
But refuse {and} avoid irreverent legends (profane and impure and godless fictions, mere grandmothers' tales) and silly myths, {and} express your disapproval of them. Train yourself toward godliness (piety), [keeping yourself spiritually fit].

Don't have anything to do with worthless, senseless stories. Work hard to be truly religious.

But profane and old wives' fables avoid, but exercise thyself unto piety;
