Despise (katafroneitw). Imperative active third singular of katafronew, old verb, to think down on, to despise (Romans 2:4).
Thy youth (sou thv neothtov). Genitive case of old word (from neov) as in Mark 10:20.
Be thou (ginou). Present middle imperative of ginomai. "Keep on becoming thou."
An ensample (tupov). Old word from tuptw, a type. Pauline use of the word (I Thessalonians 1:7; II Thessalonians 3:9; Philippians 3:17; Titus 2:7).
To them that believe (twn pistwn). Objective genitive.
In word (en logw). In conversation as well as in public speech.
In manner of life (en anastrofh). "In bearing" (Galatians 1:13; Ephesians 4:22).
In purity (en agneiai). Old word from agneuw (agnov). Sinlessness of life. Used of a Nazirite (Numbers 6:2, Numbers 6:21). Only here and I Timothy 5:2 in N.T.
