According to the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus (kat epaggelian zwhv thv en Xristw Ihsou). "With a view to the fulfilment of the promise." See Titus 1:1 for this same use of kata. For kat epaggelian see Galatians 3:29. See I Timothy 4:8 for the phrase "promise of life." Here or there "life that in Christ Jesus" includes the present as well as the future.
