7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, areceives blessing from God;  
8 abut if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.  

A Better Estimate

9 But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner.
10 For aGod is not unjust to forget byour work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have cministered to the saints, and do minister.  
11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence ato the full assurance of hope until the end,  
12 that you do not become1 sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience ainherit the promises.

13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, aHe swore by Himself,  
14 saying, a“Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”

Hebrews 6:9

But we are persuaded (pepeismeqa de). Perfect passive indicative of peiqw, literary plural. Note Paul's use of pepeismai in II Timothy 1:12.

Better things (ta kreissona). "The better things" than those pictures in Hebrews 6:4-8.

That accompany salvation (exomena swthriav). "Things holding on to salvation" (Mark 1:38), a common Greek phrase exomena, present middle participle of exw.

Though we thus speak (ei kai outwv laloumen). Concessive condition of the first class. Explanatory, not apologetic, of his plain talk.

Not unrighteous to forget (ou gar adikov epilaqesqai). Second aorist middle infinitive of epilanqanw with genitive case (ergou, work, agaphv, love). But even God cannot remember what they did not do.

In that ye ministered and still do minister (diakonhsantev kai diakonountev). First aorist active and present active participle of the one verb diakonew, the sole difference being the tense (single act aorist, repeated acts present).
