Hebrews 13:11
Compare all
9 Do not be carried1 about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.
10 We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.
11 For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp.
12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might1 sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.
13 Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing aHis reproach.
14 For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.
15 aTherefore by Him let us continually offer bthe sacrifice of praise to God, that is, cthe fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
16 aBut do not forget to do good and to share, for bwith such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Hebrews 13:10-16

Here we have the whole picture set out for us. We have been accorded a special right, privilege, and place before God, because we have been allowed to come under the blood of Jesus Christ, that great sacrifice for sin. We have been called to follow Him, and to be separate from this world, but this entails sacrifice on our part, too.

This comes in two forms, according to Paul as he set it out above. The first is continual praise and thanksgiving to God for His marvelous works on our behalf. And the second is that we are sacrificing ourselves for others, particularly our brethren; doing good, and sharing as Christ gave us the example. And if we do these things—loving God, and loving neighbor—we will please Him.

Hebrews 13:10-14

There is a definite division between us and the unconverted, and he uses the idea of the church versus Judaism. Judaism in this case stands for the world, and Jesus repudiated Judaism, and was sacrificed outside the city of Jerusalem, which in this case stands for the Judaistic system. So Paul says, "Let us go where Christ went, and repudiate that system from which we're coming out," or supposedly have come out. So, let us leave the world.
