Hebrews 13:14
Compare all
12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might1 sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.
13 Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing aHis reproach.
14 For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.
15 aTherefore by Him let us continually offer bthe sacrifice of praise to God, that is, cthe fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
16 aBut do not forget to do good and to share, for bwith such sacrifices God is well pleased.
17 aObey those who1 rule over you, and be submissive, for bthey watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

Prayer Requested

18 aPray for us; for we are confident that we have ba good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably.

The earthly Jerusalem proved to be no "abiding city," having been destroyed shortly after this Epistle was written, and with it fell the Jewish civil and religious polity; a type of the whole of our present earthly order of things soon to perish.

one to come— (Hebrews 2:5; Hebrews 11:10, Hebrews 11:14, Hebrews 11:16; Hebrews 12:22; Philippians 3:20).
