8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord1 is at hand.  
9 Do not1 grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be2 condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!  
10 aMy brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and bpatience.  
11 Indeed awe count them blessed who bendure. You have heard of cthe perseverance of Job and seen dthe end intended by the Lord—that ethe Lord is very compassionate and merciful.  
12 But above all, my brethren, ado not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into1 judgment.  

Meeting Specific Needs

13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him apray. Is anyone cheerful? bLet him sing psalms.

Take the prophets for an example - Once persecuted like you, even for speaking in the name of the Lord. The very men that gloried in having prophets yet could not bear their message: nor did either their holiness or their high commission screen them from suffering.
