But he that hateth his brother is in the darkness, and walketh in the darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because the darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Amplified® Bible
But he who hates (detests, despises) his brother [in Christ] is in darkness and walking (living) in the dark; he is straying {and} does not perceive {or} know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

Contemporary English Version
If we hate others, we are living and walking in the dark. We don't know where we are going, because we can't see in the dark.

Darby English Version
But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he goes, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

Good News Bible
But if we hate others, we are in the darkness; we walk in it and do not know where we are going, because the darkness has made us blind.
