<< Jude 1:2 Jude 1:4 >>
Articles, Bible studies, and sermons that contain Jude 1:3:
Jude 3
Excerpted from: Are You Part of the Spiritual Unity?Understanding true doctrine is necessary to guide a Christian's life. False and misleading doctrine inevitably deceives and devastates. Our attitudes and actions inevitably flow from our foundational doctrines, whether good or bad. For this reason, we must contend earnestly for the faith which was once and for all delivered to the saints, as Jude 3 admonishes. In II Timothy 4, verses 3 and 4, Paul warns that some in the congregation will have itching ears and resist sound doctrine.
The apostle Paul's repeated emphasis on sound doctrine implies that the church's body of teaching is more than a gospel about Christ. It is the gospel of Christ and what He taught and lived in His own life. The sound doctrine of Christ is the pattern of sound words and a body of truth once for all delivered to the saints. And given the constant bombardment of false doctrines, the New Testament writers were inspired to warn us that God's church must be founded on the sound doctrine of Christ, to defend and contend for the faith.
