17 Because you say, ^a‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—

18 I counsel you ^ato buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and ^bwhite garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

19 ^aAs many as I love, I rebuke and ^bchasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

20 Behold, ^aI stand at the door and knock. ^bIf anyone hears My voice and opens the door, ^cI will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

21 To him who overcomes ^aI will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

As many as I love - So it was the love he still had to them that induced him thus to reprehend and thus to counsel them.

Be zealous - Be in earnest, to get your souls saved, They had no zeal; this was their bane. He now stirs them up to diligence in the use of the means of grace and repentance for their past sins and remissness.
