38 “If a man or a woman has bright spots on the skin of the body, specifically white bright spots,

39 then the priest shall look; and indeed if the bright spots on the skin of the body are dull white, it is a white spot that grows on the skin. He is clean.

40 “As for the man whose hair has fallen from his head, he is bald, but he is clean.

41 He whose hair has fallen from his forehead, he is bald on the forehead, but he is clean.

42 And if there is on the bald head or bald ^aforehead a reddish-white sore, it is leprosy breaking out on his bald head or his bald forehead.

43 Then the priest shall examine it; and indeed if the swelling of the sore is reddish-white on his bald head or on his bald forehead, as the appearance of leprosy on the skin of the body,

44 he is a leprous man. He is unclean. The priest shall surely pronounce him¹ unclean; his sore is on his ^ahead.

45 “Now the leper on whom the sore is, his clothes shall be torn and his head ^abare; and he shall ^bcover his mustache, and cry, ^c‘Unclean! Unclean!’

46 He shall be unclean. All the days he has the sore he shall be unclean. He is unclean, and he shall¹ dwell alone; his dwelling shall be ^aoutside the camp.

LEVITICUS. So called from its treating of the laws relating to the ritual, the services, and sacrifices of the Jewish religion, the superintendence of which was entrusted to the Levitical priesthood. It is chiefly, however, the duties of the priests, "the sons of Aaron," which this book describes; and its claim to be the work of Moses is established by the following passages:— II Chronicles 30:16; Nehemiah 8:14; Jeremiah 7:22-23; Ezekiel 20:11 Matthew 8:4; Luke 2:22; John 8:5; Romans 10:4; Romans 13:9; II Corinthians 6:16; Galatians 3:12; I Peter 1:16.
