16 You shall not go about as a atalebearer among your people; nor shall you btake a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord.  
17 a‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart. bYou shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him.  
18 aYou shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, bbut you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.  
19 ‘You shall keep My statutes. You shall not let your livestock breed with another kind. You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you.
20 ‘Whoever lies carnally with a woman who is abetrothed to a man as a concubine, and who has not at all been redeemed nor given her freedom, for this there shall be1 scourging; but they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.  
21 And he shall bring his trespass offering to the Lord, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, a ram as a trespass offering.
22 The priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the Lord for his sin which he has committed. And the sin which he has committed shall be forgiven him.

LEVITICUS. So called from its treating of the laws relating to the ritual, the services, and sacrifices of the Jewish religion, the superintendence of which was entrusted to the Levitical priesthood. It is chiefly, however, the duties of the priests, "the sons of Aaron," which this book describes; and its claim to be the work of Moses is established by the following passages:— II Chronicles 30:16; Nehemiah 8:14; Jeremiah 7:22-23; Ezekiel 20:11 Matthew 8:4; Luke 2:22; John 8:5; Romans 10:4; Romans 13:9; II Corinthians 6:16; Galatians 3:12; I Peter 1:16.
