Leviticus 23:42

40 And ^ayou shall take for yourselves on the first day the¹ fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; ^band you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.

41 ^aYou shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

42 ^aYou shall dwell in booths for seven days. ^bAll who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths,

43 ^athat your generations may ^bknow that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when ^cI brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.’ ”

44 So Moses ^adeclared to the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord.

Leviticus

LEVITICUS. So called from its treating of the laws relating to the ritual, the services, and sacrifices of the Jewish religion, the superintendence of which was entrusted to the Levitical priesthood. It is chiefly, however, the duties of the priests, "the sons of Aaron," which this book describes; and its claim to be the work of Moses is established by the following passages:— II Chronicles 30:16; Nehemiah 8:14; Jeremiah 7:22-23; Ezekiel 20:11 Matthew 8:4; Luke 2:22; John 8:5; Romans 10:4; Romans 13:9; II Corinthians 6:16; Galatians 3:12; I Peter 1:16.
