36 aTake no usury or interest from him; but bfear your God, that your brother may live with you.  
37 You shall not lend him your money for usury, nor lend him your food at a profit.
38 aI am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.

Leviticus 25:36

Take thou no usury of him - Usury, at present, signifies unlawful interest for money. Properly, it means the reward or compensation given for the use of a thing, but is principally spoken of money. For the definition of the original term, See the note on Exodus 22:25.
