Promise of Blessing and Retribution

1 ‘You shall anot make idols for yourselves;
neither a carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves;
nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it;
for I am the Lord your God. 
2 aYou shall1 keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary:
I am the Lord. 
3 a‘If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, 
4 athen I will give you rain in its season, bthe land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. 
5 aYour threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing;
you shall eat your bread to the full, and bdwell in your land safely. 
6 aI will give peace in the land, and byou shall lie down, and none will make you afraid;
I will rid the land of cevil beasts,
and dthe sword will not go through your land.

Leviticus

LEVITICUS. So called from its treating of the laws relating to the ritual, the services, and sacrifices of the Jewish religion, the superintendence of which was entrusted to the Levitical priesthood. It is chiefly, however, the duties of the priests, "the sons of Aaron," which this book describes; and its claim to be the work of Moses is established by the following passages:— II Chronicles 30:16; Nehemiah 8:14; Jeremiah 7:22-23; Ezekiel 20:11 Matthew 8:4; Luke 2:22; John 8:5; Romans 10:4; Romans 13:9; II Corinthians 6:16; Galatians 3:12; I Peter 1:16.
