Numbers 4:4

2 “Take a census of the sons of ^aKohath from among the children of Levi, by their families, by their fathers’ house,

3 ^afrom thirty years old and above, even to fifty years old, all who enter the service to do the work in the tabernacle of meeting.

4 ^a“This is the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of meeting, relating to ^bthe most holy things:

5 When the camp prepares to journey, Aaron and his sons shall come, and they shall take down ^athe covering veil and cover the ^bark of the Testimony with it.

6 Then they shall put on it a covering of badger skins, and spread over that a cloth entirely of ^ablue; and they shall insert ^bits poles.

7 “On the ^atable of showbread they shall spread a blue cloth, and put on it the dishes, the pans, the bowls, and the¹ pitchers for pouring; and the ^bshowbread shall be on it.

8 They shall spread over them a scarlet cloth, and cover the same with a covering of badger skins; and they shall insert its poles.

Numbers

NUMBERS. This book is so called because it contains an account of the enumeration and arrangement of the Israelites. The early part of it, from the first through the tenth chapters, appears to be a supplement to Leviticus, being occupied with relating the appointment of the Levites to the sacred offices. The journal of the march through the wilderness is then given as far as Numbers 21:20; after which the early incidents of the invasion are narrated. One direct quotation only from this book (Numbers 16:5) is made in the New Testament (II Timothy 2:19); but indirect references to it by the later sacred writers are very numerous.
