Rebellion Against Moses and Aaron

1 Now aKorah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with bDathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men;  
2 and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, arepresentatives of the congregation, men of renown.  
3 aThey gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You1 take too much upon yourselves, for ball the congregation is holy, every one of them, cand the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”  
4 So when Moses heard it, he afell on his face;

The very fact that Joshua and Caleb were not judged in the same way shows that God was judging each person individually. Now, this one has very serious ramifications. How many people do you know who are going along with the church in today's trial, believing an evil report? Are they aware of what is written in this book of judgments about their personal responsibility?

This time the judgment was against the ministry, or at least its equivalent, and those who sympathize with them in their attack against Moses, which was viewed by God as an attack against Him.

Numbers 16:1-2

It's just like God to put an example of what He had just been talking about right in the next chapter. Numbers 16 is the rebellion of Korah and his gang. We'll read some of this. Reubenites and Levites are mixed up in this.

This would be like taking all the leading men of a worldwide church, and then marching up to the person who is in charge of this worldwide church, and demanding that he kowtow to their terms.
