Numbers 22:34

Balaam is just amazing—and not in a good way. "If it displeases You . . .?" An angel is standing in front of him with a drawn sword, ready to lop his head off, and he says, "Did I make you angry?" How spiritually blind can a man be?

He could not figure God out at all; God was totally beyond his understanding. Balaam was so materialistic that when God stood face to face with him with a drawn sword, he could not discern what God had in mind. Woe to anyone who has this kind of character flaw!

Numbers 22:34

Balaam admits that he did wrong, but he blames his own blindness. He is terrified, but he does not beseech God for mercy. All he does is to confess that he had sinned, justifying himself with, "I didn't see you. I'm just a poor, ignorant person." His confession is really quite insipid.
