American Standard Version
Out of the part of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon; for the portion of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had inheritance in the midst of their inheritance.

Amplified® Bible
Out of the part assigned to the Judahites was the inheritance of the tribe of Simeon, for the portion of the tribe of Judah was too large for them. Therefore the tribe of Simeon had its inheritance in the midst of Judah's inheritance.

Contemporary English Version
Simeon's tribal land was actually inside Judah's territory. Judah had received too much land for the number of people in its tribe, so part of Judah's land was given to Simeon.

Darby English Version
Out of the lot of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon; for the portion of the children of Judah was too great for them, and the children of Simeon inherited within their inheritance.

Good News Bible
Since Judah's assignment was larger than was needed, part of its territory was given to the tribe of Simeon.

King James Version
Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.

The inheritance of the sons of Simeon {was taken} from the portion of the sons of Judah, for the share of the sons of Judah was too large for them; so the sons of Simeon received {an} inheritance in the midst of Judah's inheritance.

The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah, because Judah's portion was more than they needed. So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah.

The inheritance of the sons of Simeon they took from the portion of the sons of Judah, for the share of the sons of Judah seemed too large for them; so the sons of Simeon received an inheritance in the midst of Judah's inheritance.

Revised Standard Version
The inheritance of the tribe of Simeon formed part of the territory of Judah; because the portion of the tribe of Judah was too large for them, the tribe of Simeon obtained an inheritance in the midst of their inheritance.

Young's Literal Translation
out of the portion of the sons of Judah `is' the inheritance of the sons of Simeon, for the portion of the sons of Judah hath been too much for them, and the sons of Simeon inherit in the midst of their inheritance.
