and Saul cast the spear; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

And Saul cast the javelin, for he thought, I will pin David to the wall. And David evaded him twice.

Saul thought, "I'll pin David to the wall." He threw the spear at David twice, but David dodged and got away both times.
