"Don't kill him!" David whispered back. "The LORD will punish anyone who kills his chosen king.

And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not; for who can stretch forth his hand against Jehovah's anointed, and be guiltless?

But David said, "You must not harm him! The LORD will certainly punish whoever harms his chosen king.
