1 Kings 20:10
Compare all
8 And all the elders and all the people said to him, “Do not listen or consent.”
9 Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben-Hadad, “Tell my lord the king, ‘All that you sent for to your servant the first time I will do, but this thing I cannot do.’ ” And the messengers departed and brought back word to him.
10 Then Ben-Hadad sent to him and said, a“The gods do so to me, and more also, if enough dust is left of Samaria for a handful for each of the people1 who follow me.”
11 So the king of Israel answered and said, “Tell him, ‘Let not the one who puts on his armor aboast like the one who takes it off.’ ”
12 And it happened when Ben-Hadad heard this message, as he and the kings were adrinking at the command post, that he said to his servants, “Get ready.” And they got ready to attack the city.

I & II Kings

THE FIRST AND SECOND BOOKS OF KINGS, in the ancient copies of the Hebrew Bible, constitute one book. Various titles have been given them; in the Septuagint and the Vulgate they are called the Third and Fourth Books of Kings. The authorship of these books is unknown; but the prevailing opinion is that they were compiled by Ezra, or one of the later prophets, from the ancient documents that are so frequently referred to in the course of the history as of public and established authority. Their inspired character was acknowledged by the Jewish Church, which ranked them in the sacred canon; and, besides, it is attested by our Lord, who frequently quotes from them (compare I Kings 17:9; II Kings 5:14 with Luke 4:24-27; I Kings 10:1 with Matthew 12:42).
