Verse Comparison: 2 Kings 7:5

<< 2 Kings 7:4   2 Kings 7:6 >>

American Standard Version
And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians; and when they were come to the outermost part of the camp of the Syrians, behold, there was no man there.

Amplified® Bible
So they arose in the twilight and went to the Syrian camp. But when they came to the edge of the camp, no man was there.

Contemporary English Version
That evening the four men got up and left for the Syrian camp. As they walked toward the camp, the Lord caused the Syrian troops to hear what sounded like the roar of a huge cavalry. The soldiers said to each other, "Listen! The king of Israel must have hired Hittite and Egyptian troops to attack us. Let's get out of here!" So they ran out of their camp that night, leaving their tents and horses and donkeys. When the four men with leprosy reached the edge of the Syrian camp, no one was there. They walked into one of the tents, where they ate and drank, before carrying off clothes, as well as silver and gold. They hid all this, then walked into another tent; they took what they wanted and hid it too.

Darby English Version
And they rose up in the dusk to go to the camp of the Syrians; and they came to the extremity of the camp of the Syrians; and behold, there was no man there.

Good News Bible
So, as it began to get dark, they went to the Syrian camp, but when they reached it, no one was there.

King James Version
And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

New American Standard Bible
They arose at twilight to go to the camp of the Arameans; when they came to the outskirts of the camp of the Arameans, behold, there was no one there.

New International Version
At dusk they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, not a man was there,

New King James Version
And they rose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they had come to the outskirts of the Syrian camp, to their surprise no one was there.

N.A.S.B. in E-Prime
They arose at twilight to go to the camp of the Arameans; when they came to the outskirts of the camp of the Arameans, behold, they could find no one there.

Revised Standard Version
So they arose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; but when they came to the edge of the camp of the Syrians, behold, there was no one there.

Young's Literal Translation
And they rise in the twilight, to go in unto the camp of Aram, and they come in unto the extremity of the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not a man there,
